Sail Training

Shipmates,

Our Basic Training program got off to a unique start, and due to the timing constraints from our late start, and did not go as it was originally scheduled.   I do not feel that any of that was a problem with what we did accomplish and hope that you found the program informative and helpful.  The opportunity to participate in a training sail and actually observe the drills was something I feel was a significant addition to what had been planned.

We are planning on having another training program on Saturday, June 7th.  Persons who have not participated in any training will begin at 9 AM, and will cover the materials we have already reviewed.   I will ask all of us to gather at 10:30 and I will review the materials we did not get a chance to go over at our first meeting.   We will review the drills for Fire and Abandon Ship, More terminology and sail maneuvers, as well as handling mooring lines and commands for handling those lines when docking and undocking.    I will also go over uniforms and Requirements for membership in the ship’s company.     Unfortunately the pages in the Policy and Training Manual have not been put into sequence, so I can not provide you with the applicable reference sections.   The good side of that is that you might find some other areas of interest while you are looking through the manual to find those sections.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.   If you can not make it on June 7th please let me know and we will make alternative arrangements for you to cover this training material.

For the Good of The Cause,

       Al, Kempf, Jr.
        Sailing Master
