The next step in the development of our volunteer program

In an effort to make more efficient use of your time and skills and offer more stability to this program we are developing a system of committees to assist the Museum with operations and planning for the Friends Good Will. The long term goal of this is to create a self sustaining volunteer program. A program that is organized, open to the involvement of new volunteers and offers the opportunity to become more involved in guiding its future.

At this time we are considering 4 committees and a list of there areas of responsibilities.

Operations:

Crew scheduling

General administrative functions such as keeping a record of CPR qualification and volunteer hours

Coordinating car pools for crew changes on port visits

Maintenance:

Rigging, hull, electrical, engine and other systems
including record keeping, scheduling related work sessions and developing a long term maintenance plan and budget.

Opportunities:

Fund Raising

Port Visits

Program Development

Training:

Sail Training, to include scheduling instructors, trainees and classes

Maintaining records

Reviewing the previous year and finding ways to improve the program

These groups are still under development and your comments are welcome. Those interested in becoming involved in this process and serving on a committee, the sooner you contact me the more of an effect your ideas and actions will have on the finished product.
