Raffle Announcement from Marilyn

Dear Michigan Maritime Museum Volunteers and Members

As chairman of the raffle committee, I am counting on all the volunteers and members to spend a few minutes of your valuable time to support our effort to sell raffle tickets. You are our most valuable ambassadors to the community.

The raffle is for an overnight for 6 people on the Friends Good Will, including breakfast, admission to the museum grounds and a sail. The winner may choose a sunset sail and spend the night, or arrive in the evening, spend the night and sail the next day.

If each of you would volunteer to sell just 10 tickets it would make our raffle a stupendous success.

The ticket price is $5.00 each or 3 for $10.00. The prize is valued at $500.00
The drawing will be held July 6th 2008 before the fire works.
(Note change of drawing date from July 5th)

This winter our life rafts from the FGW were sent out for their annual inspection and re-packing. All of the equipment that has a limited lifetime had to be replaced this year. (Batteries, flairs) All of the expiration dates came due this year at the same time. Usually their replacement is staggered. This year we had budgeted our usual $2,000.00 for the inspection. The cost was over $5,000.00, which exceeds our budget by $3,000.00. The proceeds from our raffle will defray these unanticipated costs.

The prize for the person who sells the most tickets:
First: Charter for 28 people on FGW
Second: Back pack with dry bag, towel & dock lines
Third: CD of Captain Tom

Please stop by the museum to pick-up your raffle tickets at your convenience. I appreciate all of the time you have given to make our museum successful.
